Starting your research - books on research proposals

If you are embarking on a new piece of research, or working on an ongoing project, the library can support you in ensuring that all the research related information resources you need (including online resources, journals, books etc) are available to you.

Sourcing funding

The Research Office publishes details of current funding opportunities on its website. The Research Accounting Office can help and advise with matters such as obtaining funding, costing your research proposal etc.

The Graduate Studies Office and the Career Development Centre also advertise postgraduate funding opportunities from time to time.

Research Professional is a database for sourcing current international funding opportunities. To get the most from this resource including alerting features, you should create a personal account with Research Professional and login each time you use it. See how to access the site below.

How to access Research Professional

 

When you access Research Professional, you will either be asked to log in, or if you are

using a computer on campus at NUIG, given Guest Access:

 

• Log in: If you already have an account, enter your username and password. This will

appear when using a computer off campus.

 

• Guest Access: You will be taken directly to the homepage. When accessing the site using

campus access you will be able to browse the content, but will be prompted to log in if

attempting to save your work or access personalised information.

When using Guest Access, you also have the option to:

 

• Register: You can create a personal account by selecting the ‘Register’ button shown at

the top of the page.

Note: You must be on campus and use your NUI Galway email address to register. Once you register, you may then log in anywhere and you have the option to change the email address.

Research Professional online training

Webinar Training

Research Professional run a 60 minute online training broadcast, aimed at introducing users to the basics of creating and configuring their personal accounts on Research Professional, as well as introducing them to the features of the platform. Sessions can be viewed from your own computer, and you will be able to ask questions via text chat.   

These take place on the second Tuesday of every other month, between 10:00am and 11:00am (UK time). To register for a session, click on the date below that you would like to attend:
