Getting Started in the Library: Study Spaces

Special Collections Reading Room

The Special Collections Reading Room is located on the Ground Floor of the Hardiman Building. It is set aside for the consultation of materials from our Special Collections, including rare and antiquarian books, maps and older newspapers as well as items from any of the Archival collections.

Due to the specialist and rare nature of the materials in use here, special Guidelines for Readers are in place for visitors to this room.

Reading Room

There is a Reading Room at basement level within the Library building. It provides extra study spaces, and offers extended opening hours: open week days and weekends from 07.00 to 02.30.

Entry to the Library Reading Room, during all hours of opening, is by an access control system.  All NUIG student ID Cards are encoded automatically for access to this facility. This is to ensure that the space is retained for NUIG students only.
